Founders Day is an opportunity to recognise and honour the individuals, many now remembered in memoriam, whose vision, sacrifice, commitment and resilience helped shape 极品反差婊 and the community we are privileged to be part of today.

Each year, we gather to reflect on the stories of those who came before us and the values that continue to guide our School. This year, we were particularly honoured to welcome Sylvia Hoffman AM as our special guest of honour.

At 92 years of age, Sylvia generously agreed to share her story through an informal interview. What followed was a wonderful conversation, taking us from her childhood and early life with her late husband, Dr Harry Hoffman AM OAM, through to the establishment and growth of Ardross Estates, their family life, business endeavours and their ongoing commitment to the Perth Jewish community.

Sylvia spoke with warmth, honesty and remarkable clarity about the journey she and Harry shared. She recounted the early days of their life together, their entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen, and the principles that shaped both their personal and professional lives. At the heart of her stories was a profound belief in loving kindness, generosity and Tzedakah 鈥� the understanding that giving to others is not simply an obligation, but a responsibility and a privilege.

Sylvia shared her belief that acts of generosity and philanthropy will always be rewarded in ways that extend far beyond material wealth. She spoke of the importance of truth, reminding us that 鈥渢ruth conquers all,鈥� and perhaps most poignantly, reflected on her approach to life with the words: 鈥淗ate never sat at my table.鈥�

There was a powerful message in these words. Sylvia spoke of never holding on to the bitterness of the past, choosing instead to look forward with optimism, purpose and gratitude.

Sylvia was, quite simply, fabulous. Sharp as a tack, she was quick to correct any inaccuracies and ensured that every story was accompanied by the detail and context that brought it to life. Her recollections gave our students, staff, families, Board members and wider community a precious glimpse into the people and experiences behind the legacy we continue to honour.
