In Year 1, we celebrated National Science Week in Week 5 in a very special way. The theme this year was Food, so we investigated Rosh Hashanah foods: apples, honey and a ‘new’ fruit. The students were in awe and wonder as they explored questions such as ‘Are all apples the same?’ ‘Does all honey taste the same?’ ‘Are all fruits the same?’ There were some very interesting findings. We even said the special Shehecheyanu Bracha, since it was the first time some of the children had eaten a persimmon.
