Words that you would not expect to come from the principal – ‘School is not all about the students’!

On Sunday 8 February, ¼«Æ··´²îæ» welcomed our community of parents and caregivers to join us for our first ¼«Æ··´²îæ» Sundowner. This event was designed to help parents engage with ¼«Æ··´²îæ» and, importantly, with one another in a purely social environment, with drinks, nibbles, entertaining music and great company!

In bringing this event together, the P&F, the School Leadership and the Board recognised that parents often engage regularly with both the School and with one another during drop-off, pick-up and weekend activities and at birthday parties when their children are young. Over time, as their children become older and more self-sufficient, there are fewer of these interactions.

Held on the High School Kadima Building Balcony at sunset and then in the Central Courtyard, parents experienced the High School grounds and facilities in a casual, friendly, inclusive way where all were welcome. With so many of the teachers also in attendance, the vibe was relaxed and positive. Community is so important to our way of life, our connection and our sense of belonging. What a great way to gather and celebrate together!

Thank you to our P&F for organising the event, particularly the fabulous raffle. Thank you also for the generous sponsorship from UIA; delicious food from Grounds Café; Ilay with his new Mobile Crepe Stand; and musicians Efi Ram, Kevin Vigus and our Year 10 students Romy Ram and Ariel Shor for enhancing our event with magnificent melodies. Going forward, the two hottest tickets in town are the ¼«Æ··´²îæ» One Shabbat and the ¼«Æ··´²îæ» Sundowner. Lock them into your calendar!
